What is the Amazon Prime Wardrobe program?
In an effort to compete with personalized fashion subscription programs Amazon has launched; Amazon Prime Wardrobe. This program allows Amazon Prime customers to select up to 8 items, pay only for what you like and return the rest for free.
Subscription boxes like Stitch Fix or Trunk Club are great programs that provide a personalized shopping experience based on your specific style profile. However, in our experience not every box you receive is an absolute winner. Your stylists need time to understand what you like and don’t like about each product that is sent to you. If you prefer not having to depend on a stylist or prefer to personally select each item, Amazon Prime Wardrobe may be a better experience.
One of the reasons why we prefer Amazon Prime Wardrobe is because your style, product and fit are up to you. You’re in control of the products you want to add to your wardrobe. Amazon does a great job already curating outfits based on outings such as; a night out, enjoying the beach etc. Their curated outfits give you an easy and fast way to visualize outfit combinations.
Amazon Prime Wardrobe Selection
For starters, the program is available to Amazon prime customers only. Items range from womens, mens, kids and baby clothing to shoes and accessories. Over the last year they’ve expanded their product offering so its hard to not find something you’re looking for. From Nike to J.Crew Mercantile, Amazon prime wardrobe offers new and emerging brands plus some exclusive labels from Amazon essentials and Lark & Ro. Trust us when we say there are definitely some gems to be had.
With all these great brands and categories you must be wondering, is there a minimum or maximum dollar spend? Nope! There is no minimum or maximum dollar amount to each order. You’ll simply need to select a minimum of three items at any given time. Those will also need to have the Prime wardrobe icon as part of their product listing. Once you’re done adding items to your cart you’ll notice that the prime wardrobe items will be separate from any other Amazon products in your cart.
Once you’ve placed your order, orders will typically arrive within a 4-6 business day window. This most likely is a result of Amazon trying to place all of your prime wardrobe items into the fewest possible boxes.
So what are you keeping?
Once you receive your items, Amazon will give you seven days to try on and make a decision about each item. You’ll be given til the end of business on the seventh day to postmark returns at the UPS drop off otherwise you will be charged fees for each item. In our experience this should be plenty of time to know if you #loveit.
If you ever have buyers remorse or simply change your mind on an item you will 30 days after the 7-day try-on period to make the return.
What if I need a stylist?
For those interested, Amazon does offer its own personal shopper program that provides a styling service similar to that of Stitch Fix, Trunk Club etc. Similar to Amazon Prime Wardrobe you’ll need to have an Amazon prime membership you will be required to submit a questionnaire that provides stylists with insight into your fashion interests, budget, and fit. You’ll then receive style inspiration and personalized recommendations based on your needs.
At the end of the day Amazon offers a neat program that provides a lot of flexibility with very little commitment. If you’re interested in giving Amazon Prime Wardrobe a shot, let us know how it goes. We’d love to hear about those beautiful outfits you discover!
